Mrs. Mackay
I was born and raised in Chalfont, PA. My mother was a 5th grade teacher at Pennridge, and as a child I remember coming home everyday and seeing how much she loved her job. I was always asking her questions about her students and wanting to help her grade papers. My mom was an amazing teacher and I decided at a very young age that I wanted to be exactly like her!I attended Central Bucks School District and after graduation headed for Penn State, declaring my major as elementary education. After moving back home, I applied to the Methacton School District, and was grateful to be hired as a long-term substitute at Audubon in third grade! It was such a rewarding experience and I knew that it was exactly what I wanted to be doing.
The next year I received a contract at Woodland for third grade. Since then I have received my master’s degree from Gratz University, where I researched and wrote my thesis on Interactive Read-alouds. Reading and writing are a huge part of my life and a huge part of my teaching.
I completed my masters plus 30 credits, taking my classes on subjects that I felt would help me be the best teacher I could be. Currently, this is my 17th year of teaching and I love it more and more everyday. Methacton has been a wonderful place to teach, and I feel fortunate to be working with such wonderful teachers, administrators, parents, and students!
When I am not teaching the two other most important parts of my life are being with my children - Brielle is 6 and will be going into first grade this year, and Brett is 5 and will be starting Kindergarten. They are both happy and amazing children and I absolutely love being a mom. I hope that Brielle and Brett will be blessed with the same wonderful educational experiences that Methacton provides to your children. When we sent Brielle off to K. last year, I got to relate to being on the parent side of things, as well as the teacher side. I look forward to working with all of you. Your child is going to have an awesome third grade year!
