• Math Department Policy

The following rules are designed to create consistency throughout the mathematics department as it pertains to the following issues:

                     - lateness to class

       - electronic devices in class

Infractions of the following rules will result in two verbal warnings followed by the assignment of a math department detention to be served on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday of the following week. Failure to attend that detention will result in an administrative write-up followed by a school detention.

    1. Students will be expected to arrive to classes prior to the sounding of the bell. (There will be an additional 1 minute allowance for students traveling from East Wing to West Wing.) Any time after that window will be considered late and two warnings followed by a detention will be received. Any subsequent infractions will receive an additional detention.

    2. Use of electronic devices (including, but not limited to, cell phones, i-pods, digital cameras) is not permitted during the course of class. The use of said devices will result in two verbal warnings followed by a detention. Any subsequent infractions will receive an additional detention.

Put the phone in the pocket carrier hanging in the room. If they are using ipod, or listening device during a review (with teacher permission), they can press play and then not touch it for the rest of the MOD. Detention on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday through Mr. Reid.

    3. Students must clear their desks of all bags (schoolbags, purses, etc.) for the duration of the class period. Bags may be placed either on the floor or in the basket provided under each desk.

The first week of school will serve as an opportunity to get acclimated to the expectations listed above. Following that, any accrued warnings and detentions will remain for the duration of the year and will NOT reset at the beginning of each marking period or semester. Persistent offenses will be referred to the building level administrator for further punitive action.
