Skyview Rehearsal Assistants Project Purpose

The Tri-M Music Honor Society music students serve the Methacton Community by volunteering to assist with the music program at Skyview Upper Elementary School. This project has been extremely successful since 2010 when the need for support at Skyview was identified. Skyview directors are VERY INTERESTED in the MHS Music Department's continued participation as Rehearsal Assistants. The presence of assistants at their rehearsals makes a significant contribution to the grade 5-6 ensembles and to the Skyview student’s participation.

Rehearsal Assistant duties may include:
1. Assist in the hallway during rehearsal time for Band, Chorus and Orchestra.
2. Monitor door entrances, attendance list and sign-in/out
3. Assist director getting instruments into/out of closets, setting up chairs/stands, etc.
4. Assist with minor issues on strings, reeds & valves
5. Assist students and director with individual tuning
6. Playing/singing in the ensemble
7. Distributing and collecting forms
8. Handing out music
9. Other tasks that may arise.

Students participate from 2:40 to 3:30 pm based on their availability. Some students commit to specific ensembles, or to specific days of the week, for the whole year, or only in specific marking periods.

MHS Students are encouraged to explore the Skyview Rehearsal Assistant project as a component of a career exploration graduation project or as a community service commitment.

Any student in an MHS ensemble may be considered as a participant in the SKYVIEW Rehearsal Assistant Project. Return to the Skyview Rehearsal Assistants link to sign-up to get updates for this project.

Thank you for your interest and support!
