Above is an article from the Math Coach's Corner with some very helpful thoughts about why math fact fluency is important- especially as children grow into Skyview.  Facts are needed on a daily basis in math and science classrooms.  When students don't know their facts at all, they are at a disadvantage to problem solving in a variety of classes.

Please take some time each night and review multiplication facts with your child.  Once they are fluent and have more assurance in basic computation their confidence in the classroom will grow too!
