• Quick Overview of Exact Path:

"Exact Path is an on-line program to support ELA learning. The program is based of PA Standards for ELA. Exact Path will support your student by focusing on their independent learning levels and move them through appropriate state standards at their own pace."

Students have three weeks to achieve two trophies:

    • If students go to the "all activities" page, they'll see all that needs to be completed (squares). This is typically 4 skills with 3 activities in each category, and a locked "progress check" at the bottom
    • Every square needs to have a green colored bar at the top of it. If it is gray - they haven't started; if it is blue - they are in progress; if it is orange - they completed it but failed and need to go back through the tutorial and the practice to unlock the practice quiz and try again.
    • Once all their squares are green, it will unlock the "progress check" square at the bottom
    • The progress check will test students on the 4 skills that they were practicing
    • The progress check gives students the opportunity to earn 4 trophies (for each skill), but they only need 2!
    • The progress check typically consists of 20 questions from the (usual) four skills that they were practicing. This works out to about 5 questions per skill.
    • Each trophy represents mastery in that skill. Exact path considers mastery as 80%, so students need to achieve an 80% or higher in each category (which theoretically is 4 out of 5 questions correct)
    • Again, students only need 2 out of the 4 trophies. If they do not achieve this goal, they will have to start over again and try with another progress check. This is why students must get started right away, focus and pay attention to each skill's tutorial so that they are successful the first time they take the progress check.

Limited access to technology at home? Students receive a 45 minute FLEX period 2-3 times a week in addition to a 30 minute 8th period every day, during a normal school week. These periods are designed to complete academics. Talk with your child about their daily schedule and time management.

Exact Path information from the Reading Department:

What happens while my child works in Exact Path?

When your student logs into Exact Path, it will show them their individual learning path, which consists of up to four key skills at a time. Students engage in a combination of interactive and engaging lessons, practice, and a quiz. Exact Path will move students forward as they master skills. The program offers Skills Progressions below and above grade level to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Exact Path saves all progress, time a student is working, and the types of work the student is doing.

Exact Path will give teachers reports in various forms that can be shared with parents to show progress and growth within their independent learning time. Quizzes taken in Exact Path are used as additional data point to help teachers monitor growth. These quizzes are not part of a student's grade.

    How does Exact Path start?

Each marking period, students take a STAR Reading Assessment. Exact Path utilizes STAR data to determine the student's strengths and needs in Reading. This data is used to determine a personalized Learning Path for each student. As students work in Exact Path, the program will continue to provide differentiated practice based on the individual student's progress and needs.
