Tips for Reading with Your Child

             1. Be patient, encouraging and positive.

             2. When your child makes an error, say something such as: "That was a good try."

             3. If your child seems tired, ask if you can finish the story or take turns reading alternate pages.

             4. When your child reads a word incorrectly, let him or her read to the end
of the  sentence or paragraph.  The child will often realize the mistake on his or her own.
If not, you can ask, "Does that make sense?"

             5. End the session if your child becomes frustrated.
