Elementary School and Career Awareness
It's not too early to start!
The elementary years are a great time to explore interests, strengths and abilities, and how they may connect to future career choice. Families, teachers and counselors are in a position to teach students work-readiness skills of decision making, cooperation, leadership and problem-solving, all important skills that can transfer to the workplace.
Students begin their Elementary Career Portfolio in kindergarten and add to it each year from a career lesson with their school counselor. The portfolio is theirs to keep in 6th grade.
Career Days and activities are held at the elementary level and are based on building schedule and interests. The elementary years are a time to discover strengths, interests and abilities as students begin to explore the world of careers.
