    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the Constellations Team and an exciting time at Skyview Upper Elementary School!  It is my goal for every student in 6th grade Geography, on the Constellations Team, to successfully complete this course with no less than an 80%.  There is no reason why a student shouldn't be able to receive at least an "A" or a "B."  It is my expectation for the students to work together to help each other achieve this goal, with my guidance.

The textbook for 6th grade Geography is available on-line. Please use;  http://my.hrw.com/    Each child will have access to a textbook and may borrow one to take home at any time, especially if you don't have the internet at home.

Homework assignments will be given with the belief that the textbook should not be needed for them.  The students will have their notes and other worksheets with which to use to complete homework assignments.  If a child does not hand in a homework assignment on time, the student will receive a zero.  When the assignment is handed in, the highest score that the child will receive is one point.  This is to help prepare your student for the seventh grade as well as help your child to remember their responsibility of completing their homework on time.  (Remember, some homework assignments can be worth up to 20 points!)

It is highly recommended that you sign on to the Parent Portal www.methacton.org/site/default.aspx?domainid=2 to keep up to date on your child’s grades.  This is a wonderful way for you to avoid any surprises.  Your student will be given a grade record sheet to keep current on their grades, so if for some reason you are not able to access the Parent Portal you may ask to see their grade record sheet at any time.

Please contact me at anytime with your concerns.  Hopefully this will be a positive experience for you and your child.  There will be a lot of new things happening for us all this year!

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Sally Roberts
