The MHS Math department offers placement testing each summer for students in a variety of categories:

- Students seeking a track change (i.e. academic to honors) *requires teacher recommendation
- Students who have accelerated a course and are seeking placement
Parents and students can enroll their student in summer placement testing by filling out the following digital form:
IMPORTANT: Due to complications caused by Covid-19, we are currently still in the planning stages of determining dates/locations/procedures for placement testing. As such, all dates listed are tentative.
Update 7/10/20:
Parents and Students,
Thank you for filling out the Technology survey. I am still in the process of converting our placement tests into online assessments.
For those students enrolled in Session #1 (Thurs 7/16):
- On Wednesday 7/15 parent and student will receive an email from me with a link to your placement test. The link will not go live until 7/16 at 9:00 a.m..
- I’ll ask for a confirmation response
For Students enrolled in Session #2:
- We still have yet to determine if we are testing on-premise or remotely. More information will be following ASAP.
Update 7/1/20:
Parents and Students,
To ensure equity of access for the remote placement testing on July 16th, please fill out the linked survey outlining a few brief technology requirements. If you have any questions or concerns, please respond in the survey where indicated and I will reply to address any potential issues in a timely fashion. (While the plan is to do in-person testing for Session #2 in August, please fill out this survey so we can be prepared if in-person testing is not an option at that time!)

Thank you for your continued patience as we seek to navigate placement testing in a remote environment for the first time.
Update 6/4/20:
The information below was shared with parents/students who signed up for placement testing. (Email was sent on 6/4/20)
You’re receiving this email as a response to signing your student up for Math placement testing at MHS. I am currently still working with MHS administration to determine exactly what our placement testing will look like this summer. We are preparing for both an in-person option and a remote option (virtual) to accommodate concerns surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.
That said, the circumstances surrounding preparation for these assessments dictates that we will need to, at a minimum, postpone the first planned testing date. The first placement date scheduled for June 18th will be postponed until a date (yet to be determined) in July. Tentatively we are looking at the 2nd and 3rd weeks in July (the week of the 6th – 9th or the week of the 13th – 16th).
As of now, we are still planning/hoping to hold our second placement testing date at the originally scheduled August 13th date.
As we have a clearer understanding of the feasibility of in-person/remote assessment and determine procedures, a date will be selected and you will receive an email outlining the details and instructions. Please keep in mind that we are seeking to be flexible and ensure equality of opportunities for all students in the administration of these placement tests.
You will receive an email, no later than June 18th, outlining the details and procedures for Summer placement testing. I apologize for the change to the original schedule, and thank you for your flexibility as we seek to navigate these uncharted waters while keeping student opportunities and outcomes at the forefront of all decision making.
Should you have any additional questions or concerns right now, please reach out to me at your earliest convenience. Thank you!
