• Update 4-26-17

    Ms. Melissa Gorla, who is currently serving as the principal in charge of transition coordination, provided the Board and public with a detailed presentation during the Board's regular meeting on April 25, 2017. The update gave details on the K-4 programming work that is currently ongoing, and planning that us underway to help students transition to their new schools in the fall of 2017.
     
    Update 3-31-17
    Methacton has prepared a series of bi-weekly newsletters focused on providing information for families throughout the elementary transition process. Read the first edition at www.methacton.org/transitionnews. An archive of newsletters will be maintained here in the elementary transition area of the website, linked at left under "Transition Newsletters." 
     
    Parents or guardians of a student who is changing schools and interested in meeting other current or transitioning families and learning more about volunteer opportunities and Home & School sponsored activities and events at your new school are encouraged to attend an     April Home and School meeting.

    An invitation is extended to attend a "Meet and Greet" at your new school starting at 6 p.m., followed by the regular Home & School meeting at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

    The meeting dates are as follows:

    • Monday, April 3: Arrowhead
    • Wednesday, April 5: Woodland & Worcester
    • Thursday, April 6: Eagleville

    Home and School officer nominations (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and Corresponding Secretary) are now open for Arrowhead, Eagleville, Woodland, and Worcester for the 2017-2018 school year. With the exception of Treasurer, all of these positions may be held jointly by two people (Co-President, for example).
     
    In order to facilitate the nomination process as new school communities are forming during the transition, the Methacton Coordinating Council is receiving all nominations at the MethactonCoordinatingCouncil@gmail.com address. Parents from different schools are actively encouraged to team up and jointly hold office in order to facilitate the formation of these new communities. Details here.

    Update 3-22-17

     

    Dear Methacton Families,
     
    The Methacton School District’s Board of School Directors approved the elementary sending area boundaries proposed during the March 21 special meeting of the Board. These boundary revisions, necessitated by the closing of Audubon Elementary School, will now be utilized in transition planning that will take place in preparation for the 2017-2018 school year.

     

    Principal Melissa Gorla will be working with administrators, teachers, and parents as we move into this next phase of planning. As a first order of business, a more specific transition timeline, including milestones, will be provided for families during the week of March 27th. Included will be information regarding:

    • when families may expect to receive information about who your child’s classroom teacher will be next year;
    • special events planned for students who will be transitioning to a new school;
    • special events planned for the closure of Audubon Elementary School; and
    • more details about programming for the remaining elementary schools.

    Building assignment letters will be sent to elementary school families containing information on the building assignments for 2017-2018 school term along with additional information about their building principal and who to direct questions to as transition planning continues.

     

    In the interim, please continue to email general transition questions to information@methacton.org so that they may be addressed in a timely manner. Be sure to frequent the elementary school transition section of the website atwww.methacton.org/transition for important updates, and to review transition questions and answers that other families have submitted.
