    Most of us are so busy that the first way to fit everything in is to skip sleep. Sleep is essential for good brain health and we need this time to re-charge our thinking power. Sleep deprivation can cause inattentiveness, headaches, reduce our infection fighting ability, and slow our reflexes down.
    Make sure that you are resting properly with enough hours spent sleeping, as your academic performance will improve along with your physical performance.

It has been shown that students who are involved in regular exercise perform better academically. It also reduces stress and the way we handle stressful situations. Exercise improves our infection fighting ability, and mental wellness. When illness does strike the illness is usually not as long in duration for those individuals that exercise on a regular basis. Get out and involve yourself in an exercise activity that you enjoy.

    This is always annoying when you get ill. Try to take comfort measures by using a water bottle to sip for suppressing the cough with throat soothing cough drops. The practice of drinking water will actually speed up your recovery as well as suppress your cough. Gargling a mild mouth wash and blowing your nose will also reduce the coughing and control your sneezing. Always cough into your sleeve or the inner part of your elbow to reduce spreading your germs to others. You may still attend school when you have a cough, as long as your temperature does on go above 100 degrees.

    The best way to get better is to rest and stay home. Remember, you can always make your work up upon your return. Most illness do not require you to miss school, and there are treatments that can help get you through the school day. You need a doctor's note to excuse you from missing three consecutive days of school. You must stay home if your fever is above 100 degrees. If you run a fever above 100 degrees for two days or more it is advisable to see a doctor. There are times when you have to be in school when you do not feel well. The nurses are always there to help and advise you about taking certain measures to improve your well being during the school day when you do not feel well.
